“Unlike your legs, I like to remain closed.”

A passive-aggressive and cheeky little message from your kitchen cupboard, because apparently simply closing the bloody door was too much to ask.

This cheeky vinyl decal is made for cupboards that are permanently left hanging open – whether that's thanks to ADHD object permanence, a chaotic household, your partner, your flatmate, or just someone who seemingly believes cupboard doors close themselves.

Stick it inside the cupboard door for a surprise reminder every time it's left open, or pop it on the outside if subtlety has officially failed.

Each decal is cut and weeded by hand by me at Sad Disco Club, then supplied with transfer tape already applied so it's ready to stick.

Choose your size & colour

Available in black or white vinyl.

  • Small – longest side approx. 10cm
  • Medium – longest side approx. 15cm
  • Large – longest side approx. 20cm

As proportions vary between designs, the measurement refers to the longest side of the finished decal.

Where can I stick it?

These decals work best on clean, smooth, non-porous surfaces, including kitchen cupboards and cabinets, mirrors, glass, tiles, windows and other smooth sealed surfaces.

For this one, inside a cupboard door is my personal favourite – innocently open cupboard, mildly threatening message waiting inside. Beautiful.

Top tip: textured, dusty, greasy, damp or porous surfaces can prevent the vinyl from sticking properly, so smooth surfaces are your best bet.

How to apply

Make sure the surface is clean, completely dry and free from grease or dust.

Before removing the backing, firmly rub over the entire design to make sure the vinyl has adhered to the transfer tape. A squeegee works best, but a ruler or credit card works perfectly well too.

Slowly peel away the backing paper, leaving the vinyl attached to the transfer tape.

Position your decal, press it onto the surface and use your squeegee, ruler or credit card to apply firm, even pressure across the entire design. Pay particular attention to the smaller letters.

Slowly peel the transfer tape back on itself rather than pulling it directly away from the surface.

If part of the design hasn't transferred: put the transfer tape back down, give that area another good rub with your squeegee/ruler/card and slowly try again. Vinyl can occasionally require a little patience – especially with smaller details.

How to remove

Gently lift an edge of the vinyl and slowly peel it back from the surface.

For stubborn vinyl, a little gentle heat from a hairdryer can help soften the adhesive. Any remaining residue can usually be removed with an appropriate surface-safe cleaner.
