Unlike your mouth, I like to remain closed.

For the cupboard door that's apparently developed a lifelong aversion to being shut.

This sarcastic vinyl cupboard decal is a gentle-ish reminder to CLOSE THE BLOODY CUPBOARD, without having to say it for the 47th time today. Perfect for chaotic households, serial cupboard-leavers and anyone who regularly walks into the kitchen to find every door inexplicably open.

Stick it straight onto a kitchen cupboard, cabinet or other smooth surface and let the cupboard do the nagging for you.

Each decal is cut and weeded by hand by me at Sad Disco Club, then supplied with transfer tape already applied so it's ready to stick.

Choose your size & colour

Available in black or white vinyl.

  • Small – longest side approx. 10cm
  • Medium – longest side approx. 15cm
  • Large – longest side approx. 20cm

As proportions vary between designs, the measurement refers to the longest side of the finished decal.

Where can I stick it?

These decals work best on clean, smooth, non-porous surfaces, including:

  • Kitchen cupboards and cabinet doors
  • Smooth painted furniture
  • Mirrors and glass
  • Tiles
  • Windows
  • Other smooth, sealed surfaces

Obviously, this particular menace belongs on the cupboard door that someone in your household NEVER BLOODY CLOSES.

Top tip: textured, dusty, damp or porous surfaces can prevent the vinyl from sticking properly, so smooth surfaces are your best bet.

How to apply

Make sure the surface is clean, completely dry and free from grease or dust.

Before removing the backing, firmly rub over the entire design to make sure the vinyl has adhered to the transfer tape. A squeegee works best, but a ruler or credit card works perfectly well too.

Slowly peel away the backing paper, leaving the vinyl attached to the transfer tape.

Position your decal, press it onto the surface and use your squeegee, ruler or credit card to apply firm, even pressure across the whole design. Pay extra attention to individual letters and smaller details.

Slowly peel the transfer tape back on itself rather than pulling it directly away from the surface.

If a letter hasn't transferred: don't panic and definitely don't keep pulling. Lay the transfer tape back down, rub firmly over the stubborn bit again and try peeling slowly. Vinyl can occasionally require a little patience and persuasion.

How to remove

Gently lift an edge of the vinyl and slowly peel it back from the surface.

For stubborn vinyl, a little gentle heat from a hairdryer can help soften the adhesive. Any remaining residue can usually be removed with an appropriate surface-safe cleaner.
